Comenity Bread Rewards American Express is a no-annual-fee cash back card from Comenity. Its best everyday rates are 3% on dining, 3% on gas stations, and 3% on grocery stores; everything else earns 1%.
On our reference budget of $24,600 a year it returns about $486, an effective 2% back.
It is a stepping-stone card. Keep the balance low and revisit once your score reaches the good range, where no-fee cards with better rates open up. It charges 3% on foreign purchases, so leave it home when you travel abroad.
