Credit One Bank Wander American Express is a $95-a-year cash back card from Credit One. Its best everyday rates are 5% on dining, and 5% on travel; everything else earns 1%.
On our reference budget of $24,600 a year it earns $510, which clears the $95 fee with $415 to spare before any credits or perks. The welcome bonus, $1,000 after $1,000 in 90 days, is the strongest reason to open it in a given year.
It is a stepping-stone card. Keep the balance low and revisit once your score reaches the good range, where no-fee cards with better rates open up. It charges 3% on foreign purchases, so leave it home when you travel abroad.
