Bank of America Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature is a $95-a-year miles card from Bank of America. Its best everyday rates are 2x on cable TV, 2x on gas stations, and 2x on streaming services; everything else earns 1x. There is also 3x on Alaska Airlines, a single-merchant rate. Rewards are Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards miles that only spend inside that program, so we value them at roughly a third of a cent each.
On our reference budget of $24,600 a year it earns $104, which clears the $95 fee with $9 to spare before any credits or perks. The welcome bonus, 70,000 miles after $2,500 in 90 days, is the strongest reason to open it in a given year.
Get it if you already fly or stay with Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards often enough to use the free checked bag. A general travel card earns points that go more places.
