Chase Slate Edge is a no-annual-fee cash back card from Chase. It earns 1% on purchases, which puts it behind most rewards cards; you hold it for the account itself, not the rewards.
On our reference budget of $24,600 a year it returns about $246, an effective 1% back.
There is no reason to hold it for rewards. It is a card for the banking relationship, or a first card. It charges 3% on foreign purchases, so leave it home when you travel abroad.
No welcome bonus is stored for this catalog entry yet.
Decline the rental company's collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your card. Coverage is provided for theft and collision damage for most cars in the U.S. and abroad. In the U.S., coverage is secondary to your personal insurance.
